Caramel Peanut Butter Bars image

If Sanat likes choclate & peanut butter. He will love the number 18 cookie of the 25 days of Christmas. Wheres my glass of milk.

Number Of Ingredients 13

COOKIE BASE:
1 pkg sugar cookie mix
1/2 c butter, softened
1 egg
15 miniature chocolate covered peanut butter cup candies, coarsely chopped
FILLING:
36 caramels, unwrapped
1 can(s) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1/4 c creamy peanut butter
1/2 c peanuts
TOPPING:
1 bottle rich & creamy milk chocolate frosting
1/2 c peanuts, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. First pre heat oven to 350F. Then spray bottom & sides of 13x9 inch pan with cooking spray. Then in large bowl stir cookie mix, butter & egg until soft dough forms. Then stir in candies & press dough in bottom of the pan. Then bake 18 to 20 mins or until light golden brown.
  • 2. Next in a 2 quart saucepan heat caramels & milk over medium heat & make sure to stir constantly until caramels are melted. Then stir in the peanut butter. Then heat to boiling. Then cook 2 mins, stirring frequently. Remove from heat & stir in 1/2 cup peanuts & spread over warm cookie base. Let cool completely for about 2 hours.
  • 3. Then spread the frosting evenly over filling. Then sprinkle with the chopped peanuts. Refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled. Then to make the bars cut 9 rows by 4 rows. Then store covered in refrigerator.
