Chinese Casserole image

I hadn't had this forever and my mother made it tonight. It was missing something. It's supposed to be a Chow Mein style casserole. So I added in a few things (carrots, bamboo, and mushrooms). Sprinkle green onions over the top before serving!

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 lb lean gorund beef
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup carrots, finely chopped
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 small can of sliced mushrooms or 1/2 cup fresh
1 cup warm water
1 can bean sprouts with liquid
1/2 can bamboo shoots, chopped
3/4 cup rice
1/8 cup soy sauce
1 can chow mein needles

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, brown hamburger. Add celery, onion, carrots, and mushrooms.
  • 2. Mix in soups, water, rice, soy sauce, bamboo shoots and bean sprouts to meat mixture.
  • 3. Pour mixture into 2.5-3 quart casserole dish. (Place dish on cookie sheet, in case is spills over.) Bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 30 minutes. Sprinkle with chow mein noodles on top the last 10 minutes.
