Here is my version of the very popular Cocktail Sauce usually served with boiled shrimp. I think it's amazing and may have to make this in larger batches.

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 Tbsp ketchup
1 tsp dark brown sugar
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1 - 2 Tbsp creamy horseradish (to taste)
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp lemon juice (or more to taste)
dash(es) hot sauce (red tobasco)

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl combine all of the ingredients and mix well to make sure there are no lumps from the dried mustard. Start with 1 Tbsp horseradish then taste and add more if needed.
  • 2. Chill in refrigerator - will last several weeks.
  • 3. Use this in place of bottled Cocktail Sauce and always serve this with fried or boiled shrimp, raw or fried oysters, fried fish, etc.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my sauce turned out really watery. I think I might have added too much ketchup.

I'm not a huge fan of cocktail sauce, but this recipe is pretty good. It's not too overpowering and it has a nice flavor.
