When invited to get togethers/pot luck with friends and family, I'm usually asked to please bring this dish. This is about the only way my mom ate rice, so you know it's gotta be good. Makes a wonderful side dish. It's one of my personal favorite comfort foods.

Steps:
- 1. Dice onion and place in medium casserole dish with butter/margarine - put in oven as you preheat to 350 degrees.
- 2. When onion is transparent (about 10 minutes), add other ingredients and return to oven to bake uncovered for 1 hour.
