Cowboy Beans image

Growing up in Texas we had a lot of "beans and taters" and my mama would make this with the leftovers. She called it Bean Ghoulash, originally made with leftover pinto beans, tomatoes and seasonings with meat. This is a much quicker method. Some people call it chili but it is different. I love it and every member of my family...

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 can(s) ranch style beans
1 lb ground beef
1/2 small onion, diced
2 clove crushed garlic
1 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Place beans in a big pot and add the cup of water. In the meantime fry the hamburger meat till done, then add the onion and bell pepper and cook another 5 minutes, then stir in the garlic, then drain very well. Add this to the beans and bring to a bubble then turn to low and simmer stirring every few minutes for about 15 minutes. Then serve.
  • 2. You can use a variety of things as toppings such as sour cream or jalapeno, or cheese, or green onions, or crushed tortilla chips, or crackers or cheese.
