Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (18 1/4 ounce) box chocolate cake mix
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup chopped nuts
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (6 ounce) package chocolate chips (about 1 cup)
1 dash salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine cake mix, oil and egg.
  • Beat on medium speed until crumbly.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Reserve 1 1/2 cups crumb mixture: press remainder on bottom of greased 13 X 9 inch pan.
  • In small saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, chocolate ships, salt and vanilla.
  • Cook over medium heat until chips melt.
  • Pour evenly over prepared crust.
  • Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture evenly over top.
  • Bake in preheated oven 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly.
  • Cool thoroughly: cut into bars.
  • Store loosely covered at room temperature.
  • Makes 24 bars.

Overall, I thought these bars were pretty good. They were easy to make and the flavor was nice. However, I think they could have been better if I had used a different type of chocolate.
