Gooey Delicious Peach Cobbler image

We have been eating this for over 20 years, a true family favorite! This recipe has been requested so many times, I finally started printing copies of it to give out whenever I serve it, such as pot luck's and covered dish dinners.

Number Of Ingredients 11

12 - 14 ripe peaches
1/4 c sugar
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
3/4 tsp vanilla
1/2 c butter, unsalted
1 1/4 c flour
1 c sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. In a bowl, mix together first 6 ingredients. Set aside
  • 3. The filling mixture will be juicier than most pies.
  • 4. Melt butter in a 9x13 baking dish in the oven.
  • 5. In another bowl stir together flour, sugar and baking powder, then add the milk.
  • 6. Mix until lightly blended.
  • 7. Spoon the mixture evenly over the melted butter. DO NOT STIR!
  • 8. Pour the peach filling evenly over the batter.
  • 9. Bake 45 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or delicious all by itself!
