- Heat oven to 350° F. Drain beans. Cut bacon in small pieces and fry until almost crisp. Remove bacon from skillet. Sauté onion in bacon grease until cooked but not brown remove and drain. Mix beans, bacon, onion, and diced cheese turn into a lightly-greased 1-quart casserole. Add enough half-and-half to barely cover beans. Bake for 30 minutes, uncovered.* In today's market, 1 9-ounce package of frozen beans, cooked, may be used.
