Originally this recipe was called "The Indian Dish." I've made this for nearly 47 years of marriage. My family and friends like it. Can't remember where I got the recipe.

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 can(s) white hominy, drained
1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 c onion, chopped
1/2 c bell pepper, chopped
1 3/4 c canned tomatoes
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 c cheese, grated

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Using a skillet brown beef and crumble beef. Add onion and pepper and cook until pepper is done . Drain off liquid. I use a colander for draining. Pour meat mixture back in skillet. Add tomatoes and hominy and mix. Pour into a sprayed casserole dish. Bake for 40 minutes. Remove casserole and sprinkle the cheese on the top. Return to oven to melt the cheese about 10 minutes.
  • 2. I have made this dish with cooked, crumbled hot sausage which makes it a little more spicy. My family like hot recipes so I have used hot Rotel Tomatoes.

I loved the unique flavor of the hominy in this casserole. It was a nice change from the usual beef and potato casserole.

This casserole was easy to make and very flavorful. I used leftover pot roast instead of ground beef, and it was still delicious.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my casserole turned out really dry. I think I might have overcooked the beef.

This casserole was a lot of work, but it was worth it. The end result was a delicious and hearty meal that my family loved.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my casserole didn't turn out as well as I hoped. The beef was a bit tough and the gravy was too thin.

This casserole was a bit bland for my taste. I think it could have used more seasoning.

I'm not a big fan of hominy, but I really enjoyed this casserole. The beef and gravy were very flavorful, and the hominy added a nice chewy texture.

This hominy and beef casserole was a hit with my family! The flavors were rich and complex, and the beef was fall-apart tender. I will definitely be making this again.
