Jodie's Funnel Cake Recipe image

We used to get these at the state fair every year...I got tired of waiting for fair time...so I started to make my own....They are so good especially when you sprinkle the powder sugar on them...they are good with sugar and cinnamon too....

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 large eggs, beaten
2 c milk
1/4 c sugar
4 c flour, sifted
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. To beaten eggs, add milk and sugar. In separate bowl sift dry ingredients. Add to egg mixture, beating until smooth, stir in vanilla. Heat oil to 375* and pour batter into hot fat through a regular household funnel. Control the flow of batter by holding your finger over the bottom of the funnel. Make patterns, designs, swirls or whatever with the stream of batter as it flows into the hot fat. When "cakes" are golden brown, drain on paper plate and or paper towel, sprinkle with powder sugar, or cinnamon sugar and serve warm.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my funnel cakes turned out really dense and chewy. I think I might have overmixed the batter.
