This tiki drink, believed to have been invented at the Kuala Lumpur Hilton in 1978, has recently lurched from obscurity to ubiquity. It is a favorite among mixologists, and a natural for home bartenders, because it contains only five ingredients: rum, Campari, pineapple and lime juices and simple syrup. The New York bartender Giuseppe Gonzalez tweaked the original, replacing dark Jamaica rum with the more intense blackstrap rum.

This cocktail is not as good as I was hoping it would be. I think the flavors just don't work well together.

I found this cocktail to be a bit too strong. I think I would prefer it with less dark rum.

I'm not usually a fan of Campari, but it really works in this cocktail. It adds a nice bitterness that balances out the sweetness of the pineapple and lime juices.

This cocktail is a tropical delight! The combination of pineapple juice, lime juice, Campari, and dark rum is perfectly balanced and refreshing. I garnished mine with a pineapple wedge and a cherry, and it was the perfect finishing touch.
