Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 egg
1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick butter or margarine
1 c nuts
1 box powdered sugar
1 pkg cream cheese, 8 ounces
2 eggs, first egg is for bottom layer

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Melt butter. Mix butter, one egg, cake mix and nuts. I use walnuts or pecans. This will be the consistency of pastry. Press into a 9x13 inch greased pan.
  • 3. Mix powdered sugar, two eggs and cream cheese. Pour over bottom layer and bake until lightly golden brown. Do not over bake. Will be slightly loose while hot. Bake 35-40 minutes.

I'm not a big fan of gooey butter cake, but this recipe was surprisingly good. It was moist and flavorful, and the cream cheese frosting was the perfect topping.

This cake is a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think it would be perfect with a less sweet frosting.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my cake didn't turn out gooey at all. It was more like a regular cake.
