Serve A-list snacks, and your next movie night (or game day) will win rave reviews. This recipe offers two deliciously different takes on popcorn: classic butter and a maple-cayenne kettle corn variation. You just need a medium stockpot with a lid to get popping.

Time 10m

Yield Makes about 12 cups

Number Of Ingredients 4

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2/3 cup popcorn kernels
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt (we use Diamond Crystal)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium heavy pot (preferably cast iron). Heat over high, stirring, until butter melts. Cover, reduce heat to medium-high, and cook, undisturbed, until kernels begin popping rapidly.
  • Offset lid to create a 1/8-inch vent along one side of pot; continue cooking until popping begins to subside, about 2 minutes. Transfer popcorn to a large bowl; toss until cooled slightly, about 2 minutes. Serve.

I'm allergic to dairy, so I used vegan butter in this recipe. It worked great and the popcorn was still delicious.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover popcorn kernels. I always have a bag of popcorn kernels in my pantry, so it's nice to have a recipe that I can use them for.

This recipe is a bit time-consuming, but it's worth it. The popcorn is delicious and it's fun to make with kids.

Meh. I wasn't impressed with this recipe. The popcorn was dry and flavorless. I won't be making it again.

Not bad! I thought the popcorn was a bit too oily for my taste, but my husband loved it. I'll try making it again with less oil next time.

This recipe is a lifesaver! I'm a huge fan of popcorn, but I hate the chemicals in microwave popcorn. This recipe is a healthy and delicious alternative.

I was skeptical at first, but this recipe really does make the best popcorn. It's fluffy and buttery, with just the right amount of salt. I'll never go back to microwave popcorn again!
