Old Fashioned Butter Nut Cake image

This cake is divine and NOT HEALTHY. :-) This recipe came from my aunt, who got it from my grandmother. (She died before I was born and was making this cake in the 40s and 50s, according to my dad).

1 c crisco (not oil, the stuff in the can!)
2 c sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla, butter & nut flavoring
2 1/2 c all purpose flour
1/2 c self rising flour
1 c milk, whole
4 eggs
ICING
2 c powdered sugar
4 Tbsp canned milk (pet or carnation)
1/2 c butter
1/2 tsp vanilla, butter & nut flavoring

Steps:

  • 1. Cream crisco and mix in sugar
  • 2. Add eggs, one at a time and beat
  • 3. Mix flour together and add to mixture
  • 4. Add milk and flavor. Beat and pour into a bundt pan sprayed with cooking spray (such as Pam) or two round cake pans.
  • 5. Bake at 325 for one hour.
  • 6. Cream butter until fluffy. Add part of the powdered sugar and beat. Continue adding sugar and milk in small batches and beat until very fluffy. Stir in flavoring. Frost/Ice your cake.
