Steps:
- 1. Line the bottom of a large tube pan with greased waxed paper, Do not grease the sides of the pan.
- 2. Sift three cups of flour with soda, salt, and jello. Cream butter, Add sugar and cream well. Add eggs, one at a time. Alternate sifted flour with milk. Add nuts, coconut, and dates. Use the remaining 1/2 cup of flour to coat the cut up orange candy slices. Fold the candy in last with as little mixing as possible to keep the candy from settling. Bake in a large tube pan at 250 degrees for 3 hours, Do not remove from pan. Pour a mixture of the frosting over the cake while it is still hot, let set in pan until cold.
