Yield Makes 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 3/4 lb Bibb or Boston lettuce (4 heads), cut crosswise into 1/2-inch-thick slices
1/3 cup finely chopped scallions
3 hard-boiled large eggs, chopped
6 bacon slices
4 1/2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Put lettuce, scallions, and eggs in a salad bowl.
  • Cook bacon in a heavy skillet over moderate heat, turning occasionally, until crisp, about 5 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain and pour off all but 2 tablespoons fat from the skillet. Add vinegar and sugar to bacon fat and cook over moderate heat, whisking, until sugar dissolves. Whisk in cream, salt, and pepper, then boil until thickened slightly, about 2 minutes.
  • Pour hot dressing over salad and toss well. Season salad with salt and pepper, if necessary, and crumble bacon over top.

Meh.

This recipe was a complete failure. The dressing was too thick and the lettuce was overcooked. I would not recommend this recipe to anyone.

I found this recipe to be a bit bland. I would recommend adding more spices or herbs to the dressing.

This recipe was a bit too sweet for my taste. I would recommend using less maple syrup, or omitting it altogether.

I'm not a huge fan of bacon, but I still enjoyed this recipe. The dressing was light and refreshing, and the lettuce was perfectly wilted. I would definitely make this again, but I might use a different type of meat, like chicken or tofu.

This was a great way to use up some leftover bacon. The dressing was tangy and flavorful, and the lettuce wilted perfectly. I'll definitely be making this again.

I love this recipe! It's so simple to make and always turns out delicious. I often add a few chopped walnuts for extra crunch.

Easy and delicious! I made this for a weeknight dinner and it was a hit with the whole family. The kids loved the sweet and smoky flavor, and I appreciated how quickly it came together.

I'm not usually a fan of wilted lettuce, but this recipe changed my mind. The smoky flavor from the bacon and the sweetness from the maple syrup were a perfect combination. I'll definitely be making this again.

This recipe was a hit at my last dinner party! The combination of smoky bacon, tangy vinegar, and sweet maple syrup was divine. The lettuce wilted perfectly, and the whole dish came together in just 20 minutes. I highly recommend it!
