Sour Cream Apple Squares image

My step-mom used to make these for my Daddy, one of his favorite things to eat. they are rich but well worth the calories. enjoy xoxo

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 c flour
1/2 c butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 c apples, peeled and finely chopped (about 2 med.)
2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c nuts, chopped
1 tsp soda
1 c sour cream
1 egg

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350*. 1. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off. In large bowl combine flour, sugar and butter. Blend until crumbly, stir in nuts. Press 2 3/4 cups of crumb mixture into 9x13 pan (jelly roll pan works great also) grease very lightly
  • 2. 2. To remaining mixture add cinnamon, soda,salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg. Blend well. Stir in apples and spoon evenly over crumb base.
  • 3. 3. Bake at 350* for 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool and cut into squares. will make your tummy feel good. lol xoxo

These squares are so good! The crust is buttery and flaky, and the filling is perfectly tart and sweet. I used a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples, which gave the filling a nice texture. I also added a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg to the f
