Turkey Steak was another historic recipe found among the treasures of the old farmhouse. It is simple and really good. The way it is worded tells me that it's a pretty old recipe. Instead of a whole Turkey I tested it with a whole turkey breast. Since that is what the recipe focused on.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 turkey breast (5-8 lbs) or you can parboil a 30 lbs turkey
1 qt milk
8 eggs
salt & pepper, to taste
2 c flour enough for dredging
2 c bread crumbs
deep fat

Steps:

  • 1. Parboil a turkey of 26-30 lbs. ( I made it simple by using just the turkey breast) until fairly well done. Lift out breast and cut steaks as you would from a beef tenderloin.
  • 2. Dip steaks in a batter made of milk, eggs, salt, and pepper. Dredge in flour; shake off excess. Then dunk back in batter and dredge in breadcrumbs.
  • 3. Fry in fat (350^) until golden brown. (Cook in a deep fat fryer)

I would not recommend this recipe. There are much better turkey steak recipes out there.

This recipe is not worth the effort. The steaks were tough and the sauce was watery.

I followed the recipe exactly and the steaks were dry and overcooked.

This recipe was a little bland for my taste. I added some extra spices and it was much better.
