Vodka Gimlet image

Fresh lime is essential in this classic cocktail: along with vodka and a touch of sugar, the juice is shaken over ice, then served with a twist.

Ice
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) fresh lime juice, plus lime twist for garnish
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
Lime twist

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add vodka, lime juice, and sugar. Shake until well chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with lime twist; serve.
