- Mix salt, pepper, caraway seed, and flour together and rub into the roast. Set on counter for 30 minutes. Place in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Mix applesauce and brown sugar together and pour over the roast. Continue baking for an additional one to one and a half hours or until done
