Yummy - this apple pie recipe is perfect! With just the right mix of apples and pecans, you get a bit of crunch in every bite. The generous portion of brown sugar caramelizes while baking which adds to the wonderful flavor.

6 c cored, sliced granny smith apples
1-1/2 c pecan halves
1-1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1. Preheat oven to 450. Rub soft butter on bottom and sides of deep dish pie pan, place pecans round side down until whole inside of pan is covered. Spread brown sugar until all nuts are covered.
  • 2. Place one pie crust on top of nuts and lightly press into nuts. Set aside.

Cover with 2nd pie crust folding over sides and crimping together. (Don't worry how this looks as it is the bottom of your pie.) Poke holes at random with fork for release of steam.

  • 5. Remove from oven. Let cool until bubbling stops. IMPORTANT: Flip pie pecan side up, and serve hot. The pecans should be very shiny. Serve with ice cream.

I used Granny Smith apples for this pie and they turned out great. The tartness of the apples balanced out the sweetness of the pecans and crust.

This apple pecan pie is the perfect fall dessert! The apples are tart and sweet, the pecans add a nice crunch, and the crust is flaky and buttery. I will definitely be making this again.
