Appleless Apple Pie image

My mother always made this for my picky little brother. He wouldn't eat real fruit.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 ½ cups white sugar
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 cups water
21 buttery round crackers
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a medium saucepan, mix together sugar, cream of tartar, and water. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Drop in buttery round crackers, boil 2 minutes longer.
  • Pour cracker mixture into pie shell. Sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with butter.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
