Provided by MJH

Number Of Ingredients 9

3/4 cup dark chocolate chunks
2 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream, or whipping cream
1 cup milk
2 tspn vanilla extract
walnuts, optional
2 bananas, overripe
juice of 1 lemon

Steps:

  • Place the chocolate chunks in a bowl, cover and refrigerate. Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended, about 1 minute more. Pour in the cream and milk, and whisk to blend. Add the vanilla and whisk to blend again. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and freeze following the manufacturer's directions. Mash the bananas in a bowl, add the lemon juice, and whisk until smooth. After the ice cream stiffens (about 2 minutes before it is done), add the banana mixture, chocolate chunks, and walnuts, then continue freezing until done.

I can't wait to try this recipe with different fruits, like strawberries or blueberries.

I would give this recipe 5 stars, but I wish it included instructions for making it in an ice cream maker.

This ice cream is a bit pricey to make, but it's worth it for a special occasion.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my ice cream turned out icy instead of creamy. I think I might have over-churned it.

This ice cream is so easy to make. I didn't even need an ice cream maker.

This ice cream is a great way to use up ripe bananas. I always have a few bananas that are about to go bad, so I'm glad I found this recipe.

I love the chunky texture of this ice cream. It's so satisfying to bite into a piece of chocolate or walnut.

I'm not a big fan of bananas, but I actually really enjoyed this ice cream. The chocolate chips and walnuts balance out the banana flavor nicely.

This ice cream is a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think I'll try it again with less sugar next time.

I used dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet and it gave the ice cream a really nice rich flavor.

This was my first time making ice cream from scratch and it turned out great! The instructions were easy to follow and the ice cream was delicious.

I love that this recipe uses fresh bananas instead of banana extract. It gives the ice cream a much more intense banana flavor.
