Time 40m

Yield 12 sliders

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1½ tablespoons poppy seeds
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Heaping ¼ teaspoon salt
One 12-count pack square soft white dinner rolls, such as Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
⅔ pound sliced Swiss cheese
½ pound sliced Black Forest ham

Steps:

  • Adjust an oven rack to the middle position and preheat to 350°F.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients for the butter sauce. Set aside.
  • Using a serrated bread knife, slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves separately intact. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the cut sides of the roll tops and bottoms.
  • Place the bottom half of the bread, cut side up, in a 9-inch square baking pan. Place half of the cheese in an even layer over the bread. Top with all of the ham, followed by the remaining cheese. Cover with the roll tops.
  • Evenly spoon the butter sauce over the top of the rolls, letting it drip down the sides.
  • Bake for 22-25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and toasted. Let cool for 15-20 minutes in the pan. Using a large spatula, carefully transfer the sandwich block to a cutting board. Slice into sandwiches and transfer to a paper towel-lined serving plate. Serve warm or room temperature.

Categories     Main Dish Recipes     Pork     Ham

Time 44m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 11

cooking spray
1 (12 count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
1 (6 ounce) package thinly sliced deli ham
¾ pound shredded Swiss cheese
½ cup unsalted butter
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  • Slice attached rolls in half widthwise with a serrated knife, keeping rolls connected, into a bottom and top 'slab.' Place bottom slab in the prepared pan.
  • Layer about half the ham evenly over the bottom slab of rolls. Layer Swiss cheese evenly on top, and arrange remaining ham over the cheese. Cover with the top slab.
  • Place butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave until melted, about 1 minute. Add mustard, poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce, onion, salt, and pepper. Whisk to combine.
  • Pour butter mixture evenly and slowly over the rolls. Spread over the tops using a spatula; some of the mixture will pool at the base of the rolls. Cover with aluminum foil and let stand at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until cheese has melted, about 20 minutes. Uncover and continue baking until browned as desired, 3 to 5 minutes more. Slice into individual sliders.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Opt for fresh, flavorful ingredients for the best taste. Use a good-quality deli ham and cheese, soft bread rolls, and your favorite condiments.
  • Assemble the sliders just before serving: This will prevent the bread from getting soggy. If you're making them ahead of time, store the assembled sliders in the refrigerator and warm them in the oven before serving.
  • Get creative with your fillings: Don't limit yourself to just ham and cheese. Try different combinations of meats, cheeses, and condiments to find your favorite sliders recipe. Some popular variations include turkey and Swiss, roast beef and cheddar, and pulled pork with barbecue sauce.
  • Make it a meal: Serve your ham and cheese sliders with a side of chips, salad, or fruit to make a complete meal.
