ALBACORE TUNA SALAD

Albacore Tuna Salad image

As far as albacore tuna recipes go, this one's my favorite! Sweet apples, golden raisins, celery, nuts, tuna and a tropical taste of pineapple add up to a simply wonderful salad. And leftovers are as delicious as the first bite. Sometimes I substitute grapes for the raisins. -Barbara Moravek, Jay, Florida

I love having tuna salad on lettuce or as a sandwich; either way, I fix it the same and then add it to my choice of eats. I was raised on adding hard boiled eggs to my tuna and so it is just the way I like it along with the crunch of some celery added in and chopped onion. The seasonings mixed in with the mayo gives this tuna...

Tuna Salad A La Good Housekeeping Albacore Tuna Salad

This tuna recipe is a classic dish and a flavorful combination of simple ingredients. This simple tuna recipe is so easy to make, it's a great lunch or dinner idea for busy weeknight dinners or a quick and easy lunch option.

Here are some tips to make the perfect tuna:

  • Use good-quality tuna. Look for albacore tuna in water, which is a more flavorful and healthier choice. You can also use canned tuna in oil, but be sure to drain it well before using it.
  • Add some crunch. Celery and red onions are classic additions to tuna, providing a delightful textural contrast. You can also try adding other crunchy veggies, such as cucumbers, carrots or radishes.
  • Don't forget the herbs. You can use fresh dill, parsley, or chives to add a pop of color and a layer of herbaceous freshness to your tuna. If you don't have any fresh herbs on hand, you can use a small amount of your favorite herb mix.
  • Use lemony mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is the traditional binder for tuna, and a squeeze of fresh lemons really enhances the lemony-tart flavors.
  • Don't over-mayo it. Mayonnaise is delicious, but too much of it can make your tuna too creamy. A good ratio is 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise per cup of tuna.

Conclusion:

Tuna is a versatile fish that can be used in a variety of different salads, sandwiches and other dish. These tips and tricks will help you make the perfect tuna, and the recipe above is a great starting point for your own creations.
