Tips:

  • Use fresh, active dry yeast for the best results.
  • Proof the yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar before adding it to the dough. This will help to ensure that the yeast is active and will produce a light and airy breadstick.
  • Use bread flour for a chewier breadstick. Bread flour has a higher protein content than all-purpose flour, which will result in a more elastic dough.
  • Knead the dough for at least 5 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic. This will help to develop the gluten in the flour, which will give the breadsticks their structure.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size. This will give the yeast time to produce carbon dioxide, which will cause the dough to rise.
  • Shape the dough into breadsticks and brush them with melted butter. This will help to give the breadsticks a golden brown color and a crispy crust.
  • Bake the breadsticks in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
