Always save 1 cup of starter for your next cakes, then start with day 2 of the starter instructions instead of having to start a new starter each time. You can also give some starter to friends, or sourdough starter can be used in place of the Friendship Starter.

Tips for a Moist and Flavorful Amish Banana Cake:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your cake will be. Look for bananas with a deep yellow peel and a few brown spots.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter and more tender cake.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Fold in the dry ingredients gradually, alternating with the buttermilk: This will help to prevent the batter from becoming too stiff.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven: This will help to ensure that the cake rises evenly.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting: This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.

Conclusion:

Amish Banana Cake is a classic recipe that is sure to please everyone. It is a moist, flavorful cake that is perfect for any occasion. With its simple ingredients and easy-to-follow instructions, this recipe is a great choice for bakers of all skill levels. So next time you are looking for a delicious and satisfying cake, give Amish Banana Cake a try. You won't be disappointed!
