APPLE STREUSEL MUFFINS

Apple Streusel Muffins image

These muffins are great grabbed straight out of the oven, warm with vanilla ice cream or with a steaming cup of coffee for breakfast. The addition of sour cream makes these muffins super moist, with a awesome rich flavor. This recipe makes two dozen muffins, which is a great because you can share with friends! Use your favorite apples, this recipe used Northern Spy. Honey Crisp are one of my favorite apples, along with Gala and Fuji. A tart apple would do well here too. Tips for Making Apple Strudel Muffins:

  • Use fresh apples: Fresh apples will give your muffins the best flavor and texture. If you can, use a variety of apples, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn.
  • Peel and core the apples: Before you add the apples to the muffin batter, be sure to peel and core them. This will help to ensure that the muffins are evenly cooked.
  • Slice the apples thinly: Thinly sliced apples will cook more evenly in the muffins. You can use a sharp knife or a mandoline to slice the apples.
  • Sauté the apples: Sautéing the apples in butter before you add them to the muffin batter will help to caramelize them and give them a delicious flavor.
  • Use a good quality muffin mix: A good quality muffin mix will help to ensure that your muffins are light and fluffy. You can also make your own muffin mix from scratch if you prefer.
  • Add spices to the muffin batter: Adding spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger to the muffin batter will give your muffins a warm and inviting flavor.
  • Top the muffins with a streusel topping: A streusel topping is a classic addition to apple strudel muffins. It's made from a combination of flour, sugar, butter, and spices.
  • Bake the muffins until they are golden brown: Bake the muffins at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Conclusion:
