My dad loved apricot brandy. He would have loved this recipe which I got from a community cookbook somewhere.

Time P8D

Yield 1 quart

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 1/2 lbs dried apricots
1 quart vodka
1 lb sugar

Steps:

  • Place ingredients (DO NOT MIX) in a 1/2 gallon flat topped glass jar.
  • Turn jar twice a day for 8 days (allowing jar to sit on its top for half a day).
  • Batch is ready.
  • You may use the same apricots, more sugar, and vodka added to make another batch, but let second batch sit for 12 to 14 days.

Tips:

  • Use fresh apricots. Fresh apricots are the best choice for this recipe, as they have a more intense flavor than dried apricots. If you can't find fresh apricots, you can use dried apricots, but be sure to soak them in hot water for 30 minutes before using.
  • Make your own apricot brandy. If you have the time, making your own apricot brandy is a great way to add a personal touch to this cocktail. Simply combine 1 cup of chopped apricots, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of vodka in a jar and seal it tightly. Shake the jar daily for 2 weeks, then strain the mixture through a cheesecloth-lined sieve. Bottle the apricot brandy and let it age for at least 3 months before using.
  • Use a good quality sour mix. The sour mix is an important ingredient in this cocktail, so be sure to use a good quality mix. You can make your own sour mix by combining 1 cup of lemon juice, 1 cup of lime juice, and 1 cup of simple syrup in a jar and sealing it tightly. Shake the jar until the sugar has dissolved, then store the sour mix in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Garnish with a twist of lemon. A twist of lemon is a classic garnish for this cocktail and adds a refreshing touch. To make a twist of lemon, simply cut a thin slice of lemon peel off the lemon and twist it around your finger.

Conclusion:

The apricot brandy sour is a refreshing and flavorful cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and tart flavors, this cocktail is sure to please everyone. So next time you're looking for a new cocktail to try, give the apricot brandy sour a try.
