ASIAN BEEF LETTUCE WRAPS RECIPE - (4.6/5)

Asian Beef Lettuce Wraps Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Provided by Pattywak

Number Of Ingredients 13

12 leaves lettuce (iceberg, romaine, Boston or green leaf)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 yellow onion, diced
1 pound ground beef
1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1 to 2 tablespoons chili sauce (such as Sambal Oelek*)
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
4 green onions, chopped

Steps:

  • Gently rinse lettuce leaves and pat dry, careful not to tear them. Set aside. In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over high heat. Add bell pepper and onion, cook 3 minutes. Add ground beef and cook 5 minutes, breaking up with a wooden spoon. Drain grease and return pan to stovetop; reduce heat to medium. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in garlic, soy sauce, hoisin and chili sauces, ginger, rice vinegar and honey. Cook until sauce has thickened, 3-4 minutes. Stir in green onions. Spoon meat mixture into a medium bowl and place on a large serving platter. Arrange lettuce leaves around the bowl and serve. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right lettuce: Use sturdy lettuce leaves that can hold the filling without wilting, such as romaine or iceberg lettuce.
  • Cook the beef thoroughly: Ground beef should be cooked until it is no longer pink in the center to ensure that it is safe to eat.
  • Use fresh and flavorful ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the lettuce wraps will taste. Use a variety of herbs, vegetables, and sauces to create a flavorful and balanced dish.
  • Don't overfill the lettuce wraps: Overfilling the lettuce wraps will make them difficult to eat. Aim to fill each lettuce wrap with about 2-3 tablespoons of the beef mixture.
  • Serve the lettuce wraps immediately: Lettuce wraps are best served immediately after they are made, while the lettuce is still crisp and the filling is still warm.

Conclusion:

Asian ground beef lettuce wraps are a delicious and healthy meal that can be enjoyed for lunch or dinner. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking by adding different vegetables, herbs, and sauces. Serve them with a dipping sauce for an extra flavor boost. Next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give these lettuce wraps a try. You won't be disappointed!
