Tips:

  • Choose the right pork chops: Look for pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick and have a good amount of marbling. This will ensure that they stay juicy and flavorful during cooking.
  • Season the pork chops well: Before cooking, season the pork chops with salt, pepper, and your favorite herbs and spices. This will help to enhance their flavor.
  • Sear the pork chops: Before baking, sear the pork chops in a hot skillet. This will help to create a golden brown crust and lock in the juices.
  • Bake the pork chops: After searing, bake the pork chops in a preheated oven until they are cooked through. The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the pork chops.
  • Make the au gratin topping: While the pork chops are baking, make the au gratin topping. This is typically made with a combination of cheese, breadcrumbs, and butter.
  • Top the pork chops with the au gratin topping: Once the pork chops are cooked through, top them with the au gratin topping and bake for a few more minutes, until the topping is golden brown and bubbly.
