Number Of Ingredients 10

16 * 16 sea scallops, rinsed and drained
5 * 5 tablespoons butter, melted
5 * 5 cloves garlic, minced
2 * 2 shallots, chopped
3 * 3 pinches ground nutmeg
* salt and pepper to taste
1 * 1 cup bread crumbs
4 * 4 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 * 1/4 cup chopped parsley
* lemon wedges for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). 2. Place scallops, melted butter, garlic, and shallots in a bowl. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Stir gently to combine. Transfer to a casserole dish. 3. In a separate bowl, combine bread crumbs and olive oil. Sprinkle on top of scallops. 4. Bake in preheated oven until crumbs are brown and scallops are done, about 11 to 14 minutes. Top with parsley, and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality scallops. Fresh, dry scallops are the best choice for this recipe. Avoid scallops that are slimy or have an off odor.
  • Pat the scallops dry before cooking. This will help them to brown evenly.
  • Season the scallops generously. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are a good starting point. You can also add other spices and herbs, such as paprika, thyme, or rosemary.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you put too many scallops in the pan, they will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the scallops over medium heat. This will help them to cook through without burning.
  • Don't overcook the scallops. They should be cooked until they are opaque and slightly firm to the touch.
  • Serve the scallops immediately. They are best when served hot.

Conclusion:

Baked sea scallops are a delicious and easy-to-make seafood dish. They can be served as an appetizer or main course. With their delicate flavor and tender texture, scallops are a versatile ingredient that can be enjoyed in many different ways. Whether you are looking for a quick weeknight meal or a special occasion dish, baked sea scallops are a great choice.
