1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Place the bacon in an even layer in a large skillet. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring often with a rubber spatula, until the bacon is light golden brown, about 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine the maple syrup, black pepper and cayenne in a small bowl.

BACON BOURSIN BITES

Bacon Boursin Bites image

I was inspired to make this by a recipe I saw on The Daily Pork website. I love Boursin and bacon and couldn't quit envisioning how tasty it would be in the crust from my favorite quiche recipe. Cook time does not include chilling time for dough.

CANDIED BACON BITES

Time 3h40m

Yield 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

10 slices bacon
One 12-ounce can cola
Nonstick cooking spray, for the cooling rack
3/4 cup unpacked light brown sugar
2 teaspoons sweet paprika
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Put the bacon in a container so it lays flat. Pour over the cola to cover. Refrigerate and let soak 2 to 3 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil, place a cooling rack over top and spray with cooking spray.
  • Drain the bacon from the cola, place on the cooling rack and pat dry. Combine the brown sugar, paprika and black pepper in a bowl and toss to combine and loosen up the brown sugar. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture on both sides of the bacon, pressing and patting so it adheres. Place the slices on the cooling rack; they can be close to one another but shouldn't touch.
  • Bake until the bacon is deeply caramelized but still pliable (it will crisp as it cools), about 20 minutes. Flip the bacon occasionally as it cools to crisp on both sides. Let cool completely.

Tips:

  • For a crispy crust, use a combination of all-purpose flour and almond flour.
  • To make the filling extra creamy, use a combination of mascarpone cheese and Boursin cheese.
  • For a smoky flavor, use smoked bacon.
  • To make sure the bites are cooked through, bake them until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • For a pop of color, garnish the bites with fresh chives or parsley.

Conclusion:

Bacon Boursin Bites are a delightful and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. With their crispy crust, creamy filling, and smoky bacon flavor, these bites are sure to be a hit with everyone. Whether you are serving them at a party or enjoying them as a snack, Bacon Boursin Bites are a delicious and satisfying treat.
