Meatloaf is usually served with mashed or roasted potatos and gravy, and it's a hearty, homey dish that's perfect for just about any occasion.

Here are some tips for making meatloaf:

  • Use a combination of ground meats. Meatloaf made with a single type of meat can be too dry or too fatty. Combining different types of meat gives you a better texture and a more flavorful meatloaf.
  • Don't overwork the meatloaf mixture. Overworked meatloaf will be tough. You want to mix it until it's just combined.
  • Form the meatloaf into a loaf that's about 3 inches thick. A thicker meatloaf will cook more evenly.
  • Make sure your meatloaf is fully before you serve it. A meat thermometer should read 160 degrees in the center of the meatloaf.
  • Don't forget the ketchup! Ketchup glaze helps to keep the meatloaf moist and flavorful, and it gives it the classic look that we all love.
