This is a fabulous buttercream icing with Bailey's in it, passed on to me by one of my best friends in Texas, who got the recipe from her aunt (and kicked it up a notch with some Bailey's!!). Beware: this ain't your mama's frosting! This definetly isn't the frosting you buy at the store either! This recipe makes enough thick, yummy buttercream frosting for one cake. Tips:
- Use cold butter: This will help the buttercream set properly and give it a smooth, creamy texture.
- Beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will incorporate air into the buttercream and make it light and airy.
- Add the Baileys Irish Cream gradually: This will help prevent the buttercream from curdling.
- Chill the buttercream before using: This will help it set properly and make it easier to pipe or spread.
- If the buttercream is too thick: Add a little milk or cream to thin it out.
- If the buttercream is too thin: Add a little more powdered sugar to thicken it up.
- Store the buttercream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks: Bring it to room temperature before using.
Conclusion:
Baileys buttercream icing is a delicious and versatile frosting that can be used to top cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other desserts.
