BAKED BEANS WITH GROUND BEEF AND PINEAPPLE RECIPE - (4.3/5)

Baked Beans with Ground Beef and Pineapple Recipe - (4.3/5) image

Provided by MKMILLION

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 can pork and beans (50 oz)
1 can pork and beans (30 oz)
1 pound ground beef
1 cup onion -- diced
1 can crushed pineapple (large)
1 cup brown sugar -- (to 1 1/2)
2 tablespoons mustard -- (to 3 Tbs)
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
2 cups ketchup

Steps:

  • Brown and drain meat and onions. Drain pineapple juice and combine with mustard, worcestershire, brown sugar, ketchup in skillet. Boil until thick. Mix beans, meat and onions, pineapple and sauce together in large pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour. 1/2 batch will fit into a 9x13 baking dish. NOTE: drain all or some of the liquid from the beans depending on how thick you want the end product to be. If you do not drain at all they will be rather soupy.

Tips:

  • Choose the right beans: Navy beans or great northern beans are the most common types of beans used in baked beans, but you can also use other types of beans, such as pinto beans or black beans.
  • Soak the beans overnight: Soaking the beans overnight will help to soften them and reduce the cooking time. If you don't have time to soak the beans overnight, you can quick-soak them by boiling them for 2 minutes, then removing them from the heat and letting them sit for 1 hour.
  • Use a variety of spices: Baked beans are a great way to use up leftover spices. Some common spices that are used in baked beans include brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, mustard, paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Add some smokiness: Smoked paprika or liquid smoke can add a delicious smoky flavor to baked beans. You can also add a piece of smoked bacon or ham to the pot while the beans are cooking.
  • Don't overcook the beans: Baked beans are best when they are cooked until they are tender but still hold their shape. Overcooked beans will become mushy and lose their flavor.

Conclusion:

Baked beans are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are also a great way to use up leftover beans and spices. With a few simple tips, you can make a pot of baked beans that will be a hit with your family and friends.
