Tips:

  • Choose the right ham: Select a bone-in ham for more flavor and juiciness.
  • Prepare the ham: Score the ham's surface diagonally, making sure to cut through the fat but not into the meat. This will help the marinade penetrate and cook the ham evenly.
  • Make the marinade: Combine Coca-Cola, brown sugar, mustard, and spices in a large bowl. Submerge the ham in the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  • Bake the ham: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Place the ham in a roasting pan and pour the remaining marinade over it. Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake for about 2 hours, or until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
  • Glaze the ham: Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). Combine Coca-Cola, brown sugar, and butter in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Brush the glaze over the ham and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and the ham reaches an internal temperature of 155°F (68°C).
  • Let the ham rest: Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. This will allow the juices to redistribute, resulting in a tender and flavorful ham.

Conclusion:

Baked Coke-Cola ham is a unique and delicious dish that is sure to impress your guests. The Coca-Cola marinade infuses the ham with a sweet and tangy flavor, while the brown sugar and spices add depth and complexity. The ham is moist and juicy, with a beautiful caramelized glaze. Whether you're serving it for a special occasion or a casual family meal, this ham is sure to be a hit.
