BAKED PORK CHOPS WITH APPLES

Baked Pork Chops With Apples image

Make and share this Baked Pork Chops With Apples recipe from Food.com.

Provided by D. Todd Miller

Categories     Pork

Time 1h20m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

6 boneless pork chops
3 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (I use Granny Smith)
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1/2 cup cranberry juice

Steps:

  • Sear pork chops, 2 minutes per side. Reserve.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Arrange apple slices in the bottom of a prepared 9x12 baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Dot with butter.
  • Top apples with seared pork chops. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour cranberry juice over all and cover.
  • Bake for 1 hour (or until tender). Make sure pork reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork chops. Look for pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick and have a good amount of marbling. This will help ensure that the chops stay moist and flavorful during cooking.
  • Season the pork chops well. Before cooking, season the pork chops with a generous amount of salt, pepper, and any other desired spices or herbs. This will help enhance the flavor of the chops.
  • Cook the pork chops over medium heat. This will help prevent the chops from drying out and becoming tough.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the pork chops are cooked to your desired doneness. The internal temperature of the chops should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare, 155 degrees Fahrenheit for medium, and 165 degrees Fahrenheit for well-done.
  • Let the pork chops rest before serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the chops, making them more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Baked pork chops with apple slices is a simple but delicious dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The pork chops are tender and juicy, and the apple slices add a touch of sweetness and crunch. This dish is also relatively easy to make, making it a great option for busy weeknights. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give baked pork chops with apple slices a try. You won't be disappointed!
