CHOCOLATE FROSTING FOR ONE-BOWL CHOCOLATE CAKE

Chocolate Frosting for One-Bowl Chocolate Cake image

Top our One-Bowl Chocolate Cake with this delicious chocolate frosting.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Dessert & Treats Recipes

Yield Makes 4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Pinch of salt
6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
9 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled slightly
3/4 cup creme fraiche, or sour cream

Steps:

  • Sift together sugar, cocoa, and salt.
  • Beat cream cheese and butter with a mixer on medium-high speed until smooth. Reduce speed to medium-low; gradually add sugar-cocoa mixture, and beat until combined. Pour in chocolate in a slow, steady stream. Add creme fraiche; beat until combined.

Tips for Making a Perfect Chocolate Frosting:

1. Use High-Quality Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly impact the taste of your frosting. Choose rich, dark cocoa powder, and use real butter for a smooth and creamy texture. 2. Don't Overmix: Overmixing can result in a dense and grainy frosting. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined. 3. Chill the Frosting before Using: This helps the frosting to firm up and makes it easier to spread. 4. Adjust the Consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add a little milk or cream. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar. 5. Use a Variety of Flavors: Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm and cozy taste, or a teaspoon of vanilla extract for a classic flavor.

Conclusion:

Whether you're a beginner baker or a seasoned pro, this one-bowl chocolate frosting recipe is sure to become a favorite. It's easy to make, delicious, and versatile. With a few simple tips and tricks, you can create a smooth, creamy, and flavorful frosting that will take your cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts to the next level. Happy baking!
