1 eight-ounce bag mini-marshmallows
1 four-ounce bar semisweet chocolate, broken into small pieces

BANANA BOATS

Banana Boats image

Banana boats are a classic campfire dessert: a delicious gooey mess of softened banana, melted chocolate and sticky marshmallows meant to be eaten with a spoon. Tweaking the recipe so it can be done at home in an oven or on a grill means that this treat can be enjoyed year round, even if you're far from a campfire. Bonus: If you're making them at home and feeling adventurous, you can add sprinkles, nuts or ice cream.

Time 20m

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

One 1.55-ounce milk chocolate bar
Nonstick cooking spray
4 regular marshmallows
2 unpeeled bananas
Sprinkles, nuts or ice cream, for serving, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F or prepare a grill for medium indirect heat. For a gas grill (with 3 or more burners), turn all the burners to medium-high heat; after about 15 minutes turn off one of the middle burners and turn the remaining burners down to medium. For a charcoal grill, bank one chimney starter-full of lit and ashed-over charcoal briquettes to one side of the grill. (Be sure to consult the grill manufacturer's guide for best results.)
  • Break the chocolate bar into squares. Lightly spray kitchen shears with cooking spray and cut the marshmallows in half crosswise.
  • Use a paring knife to cut a slit down the center of 1 unpeeled banana lengthwise, being sure not to cut all the way through. Gently insert alternating pieces of half the chocolate and 4 marshmallow halves. Press the marshmallows into the banana as much as possible so they don't stick out too much. Wrap the banana in nonstick aluminum foil. Repeat with the remaining banana, chocolate and 4 marshmallow halves.
  • Bake or grill over indirect heat, covered, until gooey, 12 to 14 minutes. Let cool 1 minute before unwrapping and eating.

FIRE PIT BANANA BOATS

Provided by Six Sisters Stuff

Number Of Ingredients 4

5-6 banana's (however ripe you prefer them... I don't like any brown on mine)
About 3/4 cup chocolate chips (you can use peanut butter chocolate chips, white, or semi-sweet. You could also try breaking up pieces of your favorite candy bar. I bet a Reese's would be good!)
About 1 cup mini Marshmallows (you can cut up big ones too)
Aluminum foil

Steps:

  • Cut your aluminum foil into pieces that are about 8"x12" or 12"x12".
  • Unpeel the banana, and cut a slice down the middle.
  • You don't want to cut all the way through, but you just want a gap so you can put marshmallows and chocolate chips in it.
  • Place the peeled and cut banana on the foil to decorate.
  • Place desired amount of chocolate chips and marshmallows in the gap.
  • I try to get as much as I can in there so It's full, gooey and delicious!
  • Fold the foil over the banana so nothing will leak out of the foil, and so you can keep all the good stuff in it.
  • Place over coals.
  • It will usually take about 5 minutes to cook depending on how hot the coals/fire is.
  • You can also cook them in the oven or over the grill if your campfire rains out.
  • Medium heat on the grill for 5 or so minutes, checking every so often until desired the marshmallows and chocolate chips are at desired melting point
  • Broil on high for 7-10 minutes in the oven, or until desired melting point.

Nutrition Facts : Servingsize 5 serving

Tips:

  • Choose ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your banana dreamboats will be.
  • Use a food processor or blender: This will help you to create a smooth and creamy filling.
  • Don't overbeat the mixture: Overbeating will make the filling too thick and dense.
  • Chill the filling before using: This will help it to set and firm up.
  • Use a variety of toppings: You can use chocolate chips, chopped nuts, whipped cream, or fresh fruit to top your banana dreamboats.

Conclusion:

Banana dreamboats are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. They are a great way to use up ripe bananas and can be customized to your liking. Whether you like them simple or topped with your favorite toppings, banana dreamboats are sure to be a hit.
