Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

Zest and juice of 2 lemons
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh oregano plus 1 small bunch fresh oregano tied with butcher's twine to make a basting brush
Olive oil, for marinade
Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
12 U-10 sea scallops, cleaned and patted dried with a paper towel

Steps:

  • Set up your grill for high heat by building coals evenly on the bottom of the grill.

GRILLED BAY SCALLOPS

Grilled Bay Scallops image

Growing up in Florida, our family would take our boat out in Tampa Bay and gather scallops. When we returned home, my father would grill them with butter. I think this is the best way to enjoy bay scallops because grilling really brings out their sweet flavor. Serve with extra butter and a lemon wedge.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the scallops will taste.
  • Make sure the scallops are properly cleaned and deveined. This will help to remove any grit or sand and ensure that the scallops are cooked evenly.
  • Don't overcook the scallops. They should be cooked until they are just opaque in the center. Overcooked scallops will be tough and chewy.
  • Use a variety of seasonings to flavor the scallops. This could include salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or chili powder.
  • Serve the scallops immediately after they are cooked. This will help to keep them warm and juicy.

Conclusion:

Barbecued piggy scallops are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a summer cookout. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and memorable meal that your friends and family will love. So next time you're looking for a new way to cook scallops, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
