Number Of Ingredients 16

5 lbs country-style pork ribs
1 cup chopped celery
2 cups chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1 cup barbecue sauce (I used John Boy and Billy's hot & spicy grillin' sauce)
1 cup water
3 tablespoons dark cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes

Steps:

  • While I boil the pork for 20-30 minutes to decrease fat, I mix all other ingredients together in a large enough bowl and stir to mix well.
  • Put pork in the crock pot, adding sauce as you go, until you get to about an inch from the top.
  • Use as much sauce as you can as it will be needed later to put over the rice.
  • With a big spoon, give a stir to blend all together.
  • Put on the lid, turn on high and let it cook for about 5 hours.
  • After that, you may want to keep it a little longer on low to keep it hot.
  • Serve this with some white rice, baked beans (or just pork& beans), cole slaw and some toasted garlic bread and you have yourself a meal.
  • Be sure to use lots of the sauce over the pork and rice.

1 onion, chopped
salt and pepper, to taste

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Country-style ribs are best for this recipe, as they have more meat and flavor than other types of ribs.
  • Trim the ribs: Remove any excess fat or silver skin from the ribs before cooking.
  • Season the ribs: Rub the ribs with a mixture of spices, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, to enhance their flavor.
  • Use a slow cooker liner: This will make cleanup easier and prevent the ribs from sticking to the pot.
  • Add liquid to the slow cooker: This will help to keep the ribs moist and prevent them from drying out.
  • Cook the ribs on low for 8-10 hours: This will allow the ribs to cook slowly and become fall-off-the-bone tender.
  • Baste the ribs with sauce: During the last hour of cooking, baste the ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce to add extra flavor and moisture.
  • Serve the ribs with sides: Serve the ribs with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or baked beans.

Conclusion:

Country-style ribs cooked in a crock pot are a delicious and easy-to-make meal. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a mouthwatering dish that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a hearty and flavorful meal, give this recipe a try.
