Time 1h20m

Yield 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 cup quick-cooking oats
6 1/2 ounces evaporated milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 cup ketchup
1/4 teaspoon minced garlic clove
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavoring

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix beef, egg, oats, evaporated milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, and 1/2 cup onion. Form into 1 1/2 inch balls and arrange in a single layer in the baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, mix ketchup, garlic, sugar, 1/4 cup onion, and liquid smoke. Pour evenly over the meatballs.
  • Bake uncovered 1 hour in the preheated oven, until the minimum internal temperature of a meatball reaches 160 degrees F (72 degrees C).

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of meatball. For this recipe, a combination of ground beef and ground pork works well, but you could also use all beef or all pork. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  • Make sure the meatballs are cooked through. The internal temperature of the meatballs should reach 165°F (74°C) to ensure that they are safe to eat. You can check the temperature with a meat thermometer.
  • Don't overcook the meatballs. Overcooked meatballs will be tough and dry. Cook them just until they are cooked through, then remove them from the heat.
  • Use a good quality barbecue sauce. The barbecue sauce you use will make a big difference in the flavor of the meatballs. Choose a sauce that you enjoy the taste of and that has a good balance of sweetness, smokiness, and acidity.
  • Let the meatballs rest before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meatballs, making them more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

BBQ glazed meatballs are a delicious and easy-to-make party food or appetizer. They can be made ahead of time and reheated, making them perfect for busy weeknights. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a tasty and crowd-pleasing dish that everyone will love.
