DARN GOOD HOMEMADE SLOPPY JOES (*OR BBQ SAUCE)
I used to buy "those cans" of sauce and kept thinking, what a waste of money! I make them homemade now, they're even better, so easy, and cost less, too! And I imagine healthier minusing all the additives and preservatives in those mystery cans... *This recipe can also be used as a bbq sauce for chicken, pork chops, burgers,...

Steps:
- 1. In frying pan, brown ground beef til no longer pink, breaking up into very small pieces as you cook. (If you leave it in larger pieces/chunks, the meat won't all get coated as much, and won't be as good. Will also fall off the bun more easily.) Drain grease. Add rest of ingredients, stir well to mix. Simmer over low heat for 5-10 minutes or so, stirring ocaisionally. Serve on warmed hamburger buns or hawaiian rolls with a little american cheese if desired. *If using as a bbq sauce, simmer ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring ocaisionally. Grill meat (chicken, etc.) til just done or almost done. Baste well with sauce and cook 3-5 minutes longer. Turning and basting. **If baking instead of grilling, the bbq-style sauce can be added to the raw meat and baked the entire time at 350 degrees til done. (*Boneless skinless chicken breasts from Walmart take 30 minutes at 350. Uncovered.) I like the ones from Walmart the best, they seem to be the juiciest for whatever reason! HTH! :D

MY HUSBAND CALLS THIS BBQ (SLOPPY JOES)
This is from the yellowest, blotchy recipe card in the house, so you know it has been used a LOT! This is my Cincinnati husband's mother's recipe and they just called it BBQ. It is really Sloppy Joes, but what can you expect from people who eat Greek chili on spaghetti? Ha! Cincinnati chili is actually fabulous if you haven't tried it! Now here's the "BBQ" AKA Sloppy Joes!

Steps:
- Brown beef in skillet.
- Drain grease.
- Combine remaining ingredients and pour over beef.
- Mix well.
- Simmer slowly for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Serve on your choice of rolls. (I like onion or potato rolls with this).
Tips:
- Use a variety of ground meats. Ground beef is the classic choice, but you can also use ground turkey, chicken, or pork. If you're using a leaner meat, add some ground beef or pork fat to help keep the sloppy joes moist.
- Add some vegetables. Diced onions, green peppers, and celery are all great additions to sloppy joes. You can also add some shredded carrots or zucchini.
- Use a flavorful sauce. The sauce is what really makes sloppy joes special. You can use a bottled barbecue sauce or make your own from scratch. If you're making your own sauce, be sure to use a variety of spices, such as paprika, chili powder, and cumin.
- Simmer the sloppy joes until the flavors have melded. The longer you simmer the sloppy joes, the better they'll taste. Aim to simmer them for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour.
- Serve sloppy joes on a soft bun. The classic choice is a hamburger bun, but you can also use hot dog buns or even slider buns.
Conclusion:
Sloppy joes are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a casual get-together. With a variety of recipes to choose from, you're sure to find a sloppy joe recipe that you'll love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give sloppy joes a try.
