This meal is an Iowa-thing. Yes, it's carb overload, but the tender egg noodles cooked in the meaty broth is absolutely heavenly. Traditionally it's served over mashed potatoes because the more carbs the better.

BEEFY EGG NOODLES

This is an easy recipe that is a base to do something interesting every time. The variations I like for this recipie includin a few dashes of Worcestershire, a few dashes of habenero hot sauce or to go another direction, a bit of soy sauce with ginger powder. Depends on if you want it hot or with an Asian twist. I have also added cumin, chili powder and some cayenne pepper. Just depends on your mood. You can go fresh or canned on the mushrooms too. (Oh and don't forget, the noodles should be based on your cuisine choice, and the cheese might not be so hot on all those variants.)

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all your ingredients and tools ready. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling.
  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better your noodles will taste. Look for fresh, organic ingredients whenever possible.
  • Don't overwork the dough: Overworking the dough will make it tough. Knead it just until it comes together, then let it rest for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out.
  • Use a pasta maker or rolling pin: If you have a pasta maker, use it to roll out the dough. If you don't, use a rolling pin. Roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  • Cut the noodles into your desired shape: You can use a knife, a pasta cutter, or a ravioli maker to cut the noodles into your desired shape.
  • Cook the noodles in boiling water: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the noodles. Cook the noodles for 2-3 minutes, or until they are tender. Drain the noodles and rinse them with cold water.
  • Serve the noodles with your favorite sauce: You can serve the noodles with a simple sauce, such as olive oil and Parmesan cheese, or you can use a more complex sauce, such as a tomato sauce or a pesto sauce.

Conclusion:

Homemade noodles are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. With a little practice, you can make homemade noodles that are just as good as the noodles you buy at the store. So next time you're craving a bowl of noodles, try making them yourself. You won't be disappointed!
