Time 3h15m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 large beef roast; i used a good lean chuck roast with a little marbeling
2 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp black pepper
garlic powder to taste
1 qt water

Steps:

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef: Chuck roast, rump roast, or brisket are good options for a pot roast.
  • Sear the beef before braising: This will help develop flavor and create a nice crust.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: Carrots, celery, onions, and potatoes are all classic pot roast vegetables, but you can also add other vegetables like parsnips, turnips, or rutabagas.
  • Add some herbs and spices: Common pot roast seasonings include garlic, thyme, rosemary, and bay leaves. You can also add a splash of red wine or beef broth for extra flavor.
  • Cook the pot roast low and slow: This will help the meat become tender and flavorful. Braise the roast for at least 2-3 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
