Tips:
- Use stale bread: Stale bread absorbs more custard and results in a richer, more flavorful bread pudding.
- Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dense bread pudding. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Use a variety of breads: Using a variety of breads, such as white, wheat, and raisin, adds flavor and texture to the bread pudding.
- Add mix-ins: Add mix-ins such as raisins, nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruit to the bread pudding for extra flavor and texture.
- Bake until the custard is set: The bread pudding is done baking when the custard is set. You can check by inserting a toothpick into the center of the pudding. If it comes out clean, the pudding is done.

Southern bread pudding is a delicious and versatile dessert that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is a great way to use up stale bread and can be easily customized to your liking.
