Tips:

  • Use fresh broccoli: Fresh broccoli florets give the casserole the best flavor and texture. Avoid using frozen or pre-cut broccoli, as they can be watery and less flavorful.
  • Steam the broccoli before adding it to the casserole: Steaming the broccoli before adding it to the casserole helps to preserve its nutrients and color. It also helps to prevent the broccoli from becoming overcooked and mushy.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The type of cheese you use in the casserole will have a big impact on the flavor of the dish. Use a sharp cheddar cheese or a combination of cheddar and Parmesan cheese for the best flavor.
  • Add some seasonings to the casserole: Season the casserole with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste. You can also add other seasonings, such as paprika, chili powder, or cumin, to taste.
  • Top the casserole with buttered bread crumbs: Buttered bread crumbs add a nice crispy topping to the casserole. To make the bread crumbs, simply combine 1 cup of bread crumbs with 1/4 cup of melted butter and mix until well combined.
  • Bake the casserole until it is golden brown and bubbly: Bake the casserole in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes, or until it is golden brown and bubbly.

Conclusion:

Betty's Broccoli Casserole is a classic comfort food dish that is perfect for potlucks, parties, and family gatherings. It is easy to make, and it is always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy sauce, tender broccoli, and crispy bread crumb topping, this casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
