Tips:

  • For the black lentil and soybean dal, rinse the lentils and soybeans thoroughly before cooking. This will help to remove any dirt or debris, and it will also help the lentils and soybeans to cook more evenly.
  • When cooking the dal, be sure to add plenty of water. The lentils and soybeans will absorb a lot of water as they cook, so you want to make sure there is enough water to cover them completely.
  • If you want a thicker dal, you can mash some of the lentils and soybeans with a fork or potato masher. This will help to thicken the dal and give it a more creamy texture.
  • To make the dal more flavorful, you can add a variety of spices, such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. You can also add fresh herbs, such as cilantro and mint, to garnish the dal.
  • The dal can be served with a variety of accompaniments, such as rice, roti, or naan. It can also be served with a side of yogurt or chutney.
