BLUEBERRY KEFIR SMOOTHIE WITH GREENS

Blueberry Kefir Smoothie With Greens image

This green smoothie is really more blue than green, as the color of the blueberries predominates. But the greens are there, so in my mind it's still a green drink. Half a banana wasn't quite enough to punch up the flavor of the drink, but I found that a whole banana did the trick. I used a baby greens mix that included baby kale, chard (red and green), and spinach.

STRAWBERRY KEFIR SMOOTHIE

Strawberry Kefir Smoothie image

This makes an easy, healthy, and filling smoothie. Kefir is a dairy product similar to yogurt with a lot of healthy bacteria in it. I used blueberry flavored kefir for this smoothie, but any flavor will do. The amounts of strawberries is approximate. Add more or less.

  • Choose ripe and fresh blueberries: The riper the blueberries, the sweeter and more flavorful your smoothie will be. Fresh blueberries are also more nutrient-rich than frozen ones.
  • Use full-fat kefir: Full-fat kefir is a good source of protein, calcium, and probiotics, which can help improve gut health and digestion.

  • Add some healthy fats: Healthy fats can help keep you feeling full and satisfied after drinking your smoothie. Good sources of healthy fats include avocado, nuts, and seeds.
  • Sweeten your smoothie naturally: If you need to sweeten your smoothie, use natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or stevia. Avoid using refined sugar, which is unhealthy and can contribute to weight gain.
